Did the ‘Ant-Man’ Director Hint the Plot of His Movie?
Edgar Wright is such a tease, but that’s OK. Weeks after Marvel confirmed Ant-Man will be played by the lovable, comedic actor Paul Rudd, the English director posted the photo below on his blog and wrote, “Homework.”
According to Coming Soon, The image comes from an episode of the popular animated series Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Before I go on to explain the episode, please note that three men have donned the Ant-Man suit. The plot of the episode features Scott Lang stealing Hank Pym’s suit, which comes in handy in Lang’s life of crime. There is a similar story arc in the comics, so is Wright giving us a hint to the plot of his upcoming film? Back in 2006, the director told SuperHeroHype that his idea was to include Pym and Lang in the adaptation, which is penned by Joe Cornish and Wright. Producer Kevin Feige also had mentioned that Ant-Man was different from other Marvel projects in that it was more of a heist movie. Put those ideas together and one could easily infer the film being about Lang stealing Pym’s suit for his crime sprees. We will just have to wait and see.
Marvel’s Ant-Man, directed by Edgar Wright and starring Paul Rudd, is scheduled to hit theaters July 31, 2015.
