Monument Valley Review: Beautiful Mobile Game
If you’re looking to sink a couple of hours into a video game, that will not only delight but possibly relax, then check out Monument Valley available for iOS, Android and Kindle Fire.
The game’s somber soundtrack, silly protagonist and sometimes stumping puzzles kept me intrigued enough to finish the game in one sitting. There is an expansion available and hopefully more on the way.
The main premise of the game is to get your character from point A to point B with a path hampered by various puzzles. The world is set in a very Escher-like environment where your character can climb, walk sideways and upside down.
What’s most intriguing about the game is its art direction. It’s gorgeous, simple and subtle gradients with vibrant colors. Really makes your retina display shine.
My only knock for the game is its length. Like I mentioned earlier, it really only took me about two hours to complete the game and there isn’t much replay value. Unless you wait long enough to forget how to solve the puzzles.
